The Admiral Fitzroy Inn in Newport, Rhode Island, is offering discounted packages for fall getaways. The inn's "Two Night Package" features accommodations, dining discounts, and a historic mansion tour from $154 per night, with a two-night minimum stay, for a total package price of $308.

Newport, well-known for its estates, is a festive place to weekend before the holidays. Some of the mansions get decked out in holiday finery with tours and tree lightings, the city hosts its first-ever Restaurant Week, and there are plenty of cultural activities, from gallery talks to concerts.

The package

The Two Night Package includes:

* Two nights' accommodations
* $50 dinner gift certificate at Pronto Restaurant
* One mansion tour for two
* Continental breakfast each morning

Rates range from $308 to $394 for weekend stays. This package is available from October 22 through December 28, not including holidays.

The Admiral Fitzroy Inn was built in 1854 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Rooms have antique beds, cable television, tea kettles and tea, and private baths.

Is this a good deal?

I priced the package's components one by one against the cost of the promotion's price. After checking each item separately, I found the package will save you $52 over buying items a la carte.

About Newport
