Spring has Sprung in Newport


Spring has sprung at the Admiral Fitzroy! April in New England means longer days and more time spent outside, and springtime is a perfect time to beat the crowds and see all of what Newport has to offer. In keeping with the fresh energy of the season, in town the one thing you absolutely cannot miss is the Annual Newport Daffodil Days Festival.

Newport’s Daffodil Days Festival, a festival spanning over a week with a variety of different events including private tours, Cliffwalk events, garden parties and even a parade for dogs takes place all over Newport and runs from April 13 to April 21. Create your Daffy Hat for the Festival! April 12 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Create your Daffy Hat for the Festival! Enjoy an afternoon tea and live music while you build your own unique hat. All materials provided – including daffodils! Compliments of Newport in Bloom. FREE! for the first 24 members of the Edward King House that register. More info here!

Daffodil Days Festival Opening Ceremonies April 13 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Gather round to celebrate as the muskets are fired and the official ribbon of daffodils is cut at the historic Clarke Cooke House as the festival blooms forth on Bannister’s Wharf. Live music, a stilt walker, face painter, Miss Rhode Island, lemonade and other good food andstuff!
Next door at Bowen’s Wharf, visit the URI Master Gardener tent for tips on your spring planting and get your free flower seeds.

Daffy Doggie Paw-rade April 13 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Have a dog? Dress your dog in the cutest daffy attire and head either to Wag Nation (92 William St.) by 1pm, or to Bannisters Wharf by 1:30pm. The paw-rade then steps off at 2pm from Bannisters, marching to historic Queen Anne Square where the daffiest dressed dog and daffiest dressed human(s) will receive awards. Bring your best dog and outfit!

Daffy Trolley Tours

April 14 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Hop aboard the Daffy Trolley for a Sunday tour of spots brimming with daffodil throughout Newport. Three stops will allow you to disembark to take photos among the amazing INSTAGRAMMABLE views of flowers. Park at Lot #3 at Easton’s Beach (far east end) for prompt boarding and departures. (10am tour is ADA compliant). Limited reservations available beginning April 1. FREE! More info here!

Beach Cleanup at the Cliff Walk April 20 @ 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Want to help? Be part of a good cause? Go green and enjoy the yellow views. Spend an hour or so cleaning up one of Newport’s most breathtaking locations where thousands of daffodils will beblooming. Join Clean Ocean Access at Marine Avenue on Cliff Walk to volunteer. More info here!
